How to Give A Chair Massage In A Regular Chair

A chair massage is one of the most casual massages that can be given and all you need is a regular chair, no special massage chair required. A casual chair massage can be given at work, in the family room watching TV or anywhere you can relax and sit in a chair. Many people are uncomfortable when they first start massage therapy, since a chair massage is done with all clothes on and can be done in public it can be a great first massage to give or receive. When giving a chair massage do not worry about doing all the steps or even doing them in order. Or is more about relaxing with your partner and having a good time.

Instructions

1

Allow your massage partner to get comfortable and should be free from heavy clothing as much as possible. Make sure their chair has enough room for you to work behind it. A chair massage can be done with you standing or sitting as long as you can reach all areas needed.

2

Start the chair massage with hands on top of each shoulder blade, right beside the base of the neck. Grasp the shoulder firmly and go down each side. Do this step at least a couple time. Start with a soft grip and as the step is repeated, gradually increase pressure. You can stop at the end of the top of the shoulder or go all the way down to the elbow, depending on comfort level.

3

Gradually move to the neck area and begin rubbing the neck in a circular motion. Start up the base of the neck and continue to a little above the hairline.

4

Begin massaging the lower shoulder area. Make the fingers and palms of your hands rub across the shoulders in a circular motion.

5

Carefully use your elbows to massage your partners shoulders in a circular motion.

6

Use your elbows to do a circular massage movement across the shoulders, usually a crawling motion across the shoulders.

7

Repeat chair massage motions in different directions until you have finished the massage, covering the entire neck and shoulder area.

8

If you have extra time you may also consider giving your massage partner as simple scalp massage while they are sitting. Its a great way to improve a chair massage and it is a very nice treat to give.

Tips & Warnings

To learn  how to give a great massage you must be willing to practice and learn as you go.
